New VMware Software Downloads: Key changes should know that Broadcom Partners – blog VMware cloud provider

At Broadcom, we are determined to ensure that our Cloud VMware Cloud (VCSP) providers can access the latest software safely and conveniently. Beginning March 24, 2025There will be a fundamental change, as binary files of VMware software (included updates and repairs) are downloaded for VMware Cloud Foundation, VCENER, ESXI and VSAN. This update is designed to ensure access and comply with proven procedures in the field.

Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming changes of and how it will affect you.

What is changing?

Starting on March 24, 2025, we will move from our current binary download process to the new method. These changes will be:

  • Centralize on a single site download: All software binary files will be downloaded from one website to download vs. Several different websites to download. This is available for online and air.
  • Introduce Download Verification: Download will be allowed through a unique token. The new URL addresses are inserted into the token to verify that you are as an authorized user/party to download the file.

Please note: Existing URL Downloads will remain available for one month to help with the transition. After April 24, 2025, these URL addresses will not be valid for a long time.

What does this mean for VCSPS?

Here’s what you have to do:

  • Get a “tightening token”: Sign in to support.broadcom.com to download a unique token.
  • Check technical documentation: Read KB articles that outline requirements and steps. (Link below)
  • URL update in product: Broadcom will offer a script to help automate existing URL endpoints in SDDC Manager (VCF), ESX, VCENER and VSAN.
  • Update automation scripts (usable if): If you have any own scripts, update the URLs as directed in the KB. the items.
  • Partners who are not binary bits White label partners It will be possible to do this until we revise the contractual agreement on the new process.
